Dinner: Beef stew, baked potatoes, green beans...
So cold in London tonight - a really dry, biting cold that dries my skin and stings my eyes. What better remedy than beef, gently braised in stock and red wine. Potatoes started in the microwave then crisped in the oven to get them done in time. Green beans, dressed with a mustardy, sharp vinaigrette, shallots, parsley to provide crunch and acidity. A warming meal for a cold night.

Made today: Chili
Actually, made yesterday bit eaten today after the requisite festering time. From Nigella Lawson’s ‘Feast’. A very nice recipe - particularly liked the slight chocolately note from the cocoa. Needed a little more chili though (I used a mixture of ancho and chipotle chili powders).
